Local issues on the agenda in Pendle

A bus service review, winter gritting and local grants are due to be discussed at the next meeting of Lancashire Local Pendle on Wednesday 27th February.

Pendle's Locality Plan, which details how Lancashire County Council and Pendle Borough Council will work together, and locations for new Speed Indicator Devices (SPIDS), are also on the agenda at the meeting which will take place at the new Rainhall Centre in Barnoldswick.

The aim of Lancashire Locals is to provide a way for local Councillors to influence decisions, ensuring that any changes to service are made in the best interests of each community. The Pendle committee's powers include budget and priority setting for highways, road safety schemes, waste services, library and museum opening hours, youth and community services and issuing local grants.

Chairman Cllr David Whipp said: "It is vital that we put a local perspective on decisions affecting Pendle. This committee provides a chance for local borough and county councillors to have a say on issues such as our Locality Plan which will have a direct impact on local people."

The Lancashire Local Pendle committee is formed by equal numbers of councillors from Lancashire County Council and Pendle Borough Council. Residents are welcome to attend the meeting which takes place at the Rainhall Centre, Barnoldswick, on the 27th February at 6.30pm.
